Classic Cowboy

• Classic Cowboy

  • Any SASS legal traditional pistol with a rimmed cartridge of 40 cal or larger
  • Any SASS legal traditional cap and ball pistol of 36 cal or larger
  • Any SASS legal rifle model 73 or earlier (73, 66 or Henry) with a rimmed cartridge of 40 cal or larger (38-40, 44-40 or 45 ), (36 or 44 )
  • Shotgun must be a SxS external hammer or a lever action such as the 1887
  • Handguns must be shot duelist (one-handed)
  • Clothing, at least 3 of the following, must be worn during the match and for all award ceremonies.
    NOTE: The 3 pieces may differ at times, but at least 3 must be worn.
    • Chaps, spurs, cuffs, scarf, ties, vest, pocket watch with full-length chain, and jacket. NO STRAW HATS.
    • Boots must be traditional leather with smooth leather or rubber soles. No lug grip soles will be acceptable.
    • Hats must be worn during the entire match including awards ceremonies etc.
    • No buscadero or drop loop holsters are allowed. The top of your pistol grips must be higher than your gun belt.

• Classic Cowgirl

  • Shooting equipment is the same as the Classic Cowboy.
  • Clothing, must be worn during the match and for all ceremonies, is as follows:
    • Period watch, split skirt, bustle, hoops, corset, Victorian style hat or period style straw hat, period jewelry, snood, reticule (hand bag), period lace up boots / shoes, camisole, bloomers, fish net stockings, feather boa and cape.
